Jeannette's Custom Cakes

Angry Birds

To say I was excited to do this cake is an understatement. I played it religiously while I was pregnant, and pretty much anytime I’m bored. (not that often these days) It’s one of those themes that can have so many little tiny details, which just happen to be my favourite kind.  The cake is red velvet with cream cheese frosting, a JCC favourite.  Here are a few pictures.

Here’s the whole thing.

Close up of the little dudes.

Once again, thank you Sara. You test me with every cake that you order, this one was no exception.

Have a great week everyone!

Happy 2nd Birthday JCC!!

2 years already!! So exciting! Who knew that 2 years ago, something to do would have turned into such an adventure! Everyone knows by now that this past year was outstanding for us, we’re so excited for all the new things that 2012 will bring. We are equally excited to be back to work (very soon), and even more excited to announce a few specials as a “Happy Birthday” promo.

I woke up this morning to some gorgeous snow, and got the urge to make some snowflake cookies. So why not do a little special on these.

Give us a call and get a dozen of the snowflakes for $30. Colour scheme of your choice available upon request. Snowflakes only.

Also since, it’s our birthday, we’ll be having our 6″ gift box cakes on special for $50 for the month of January only.

Again, colour scheme available upon request. We can also add a gift tag with the recipients name on it for that added touch. No other details can be added without a price increase.

Last but not least, cupcake of the month is back!!! Check our COTM section for our new flavour and new pricing.

I knew good things came in three’s ;)
Please remember I am still on maternity leave until January 14th. All promos, pricing and COTM will begin then

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

It’s been a GREAT year!

Well, what can I say. The past 2 months have flown by for us here at JCC. November was the month our Cake Walk episode aired, and it was nothing short of amazing. I really need to take a second and thank every single member of this community for all of the support you gave us. It was such an amazing opportunity, and we were more than proud to represent Sault Ste. Marie.  We were ourselves, took everything in and welcomed every bit of advice that they had to share with us. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for having faith and being so excited to see something so great happen to someone from this great city. We finally were able to get our hands on a photo from the production company, it looks pretty sweet!

It was my pride and joy, I had never made something so neat. The pride that came along with it, was nothing but outstanding. However at 7:49 pm on December 7th I was given something that changed my life forever.

Our little cupcake Elizabeth Alice Orazietti arrived and she is wonderful! Props to Uncle Curt for the pics.

On that note, things are going well, and we’ll probably start taking orders mid January. We won’t be up to our regular schedule for a while, so starting in 2012, please get your orders in asap so you don’t miss out on a spot. They will be limited for a while.

Again, thanks to everyone for all the congratulations and well wishes for Elizabeth, we’ve been waiting for her for a long time and are so happy that she is finally here.

Merry Christmas to each and every one of you, and we can’t wait to get back to work!

Love Jeannette, Anthony and Elizabeth

2 Weeks!!!!

Holy Cow, I can’t believe it! It’s only 2 weeks away!!!! We’re 2 weeks away from being on national television. I still can’t believe all this happened!! I hope everyone is getting ready to watch!

Our Shopaholic episode is airing November 9th, on the slice network, at 9:00pm. So set your PVR’s (if you can this far in advance), and get ready to cheer on a hometown Sault Ste. Marie girl and her handsome assistant husband compete for a $5000 prize.

Here’s a sneak peak photo from our preparation for Cake Walk . Talk about packing up everything but the kitchen sink, and the fridge, and the ovens, haha.

So get ready to cheer us on, wear blue, order cupcakes, put signs up, honk when we drive by! Anything you can do to support this huge accomplishment for our small city, we’d appreciate it!!!

GO BLUE!!!!!!

They’re Back…

With an overwhelming request, halloween cookies are back at JCC! This year we’re offering 7 different vanilla sugar cookie shapes. Aren’t they cute?

When ordering, please specify which shapes you would like, otherwise you will get an assortment. A dozen of these will come wrapped in their own individual baggies with “Happy Halloween” tags for $30.  You must order by the dozen. Please get your orders in as soon as you can, email is always best.

On another note we are booked SOLID for this coming weekend, holidays tend to do that to us :) . Have a great weekend everyone, try not to stuff yourself too much. Ahh who am I kidding? I plan to.

Gallery Update

Well it’s no shock to anyone that it’s been a busy summer, with things winding down now, I finally had a chance to update the gallery. Some older stuff has been removed and of course replaced with newer ones. I just wanted to let everyone know that. Here are a few of my favourites from the summer…

Enjoy the rain! I know I sure am :)

As Requested…

It’s been requested a few times, but I wasn’t sure if it was something that I was interested in. Until a good friend of mind suggested it, we talked it over and she agreed to be my guinea pig :) Cupcake cakes have arrived at the bakery!

Stephanie was having a Dr. Seuss party (actually 2 of them) for her son who was turning one. We made a dummy cake for decoration and a cupcake cake for the kids to enjoy. It went over so well that I’ve decided to add them to the menu at JCC. These cupcake cakes will start at $40, price may vary depending on design (as usual). Here is the finished product with Nicco as well as the dummy that was made to match. Happy 1st Birthday Nicco, and Steph thanks for letting me be a part of it!

New Hours of Operation…until December

Well, it’s finally time. I’ve been putting this off as long as I could. After suggestions from my family including all three of my mothers, I’ve decided it’s time to slow down a bit. Growing a baby is exhausting. Starting this week I am going to be taking 2 days off a week like a normal person. We will now be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Cake pick ups will still be available on Sundays, the only difference being that the cakes will be finished on Saturday. If you currently have an order for a Sunday or Monday from now until December 1st, don’t worry, it will still be completed. Cupcake of the Month will now be offered Tuesday-Thursday each week.

As of December 1st, we will be on a small hiatus, Baby Orazietti is due early December. Please keep the orders coming as I will know more by the end of December.

Thank you to everyone for the excitement of our new little cupcake! She’s going to be one lucky lady :)

Ahhh…Fall…

It’s no joke, I LOVE this time of year, especially being 6 months pregnant, it’s about time that the humidity went away! There is just something about the cool breeze coming in the house and the smell of chilli on the stove (compliments of my husband) that make it a great time of year.

With wedding season slowing down (although if you look at my calendar, you’d never know it) I was pleased to see that with 3 wedding cakes for the weekend, they were all different. Each bride really took the time and ordered something that THEY wanted, that is very important. Sure in the end it’s just a cake, but why have something that you feel you have to. The first one was a traditional 5 tier, black, white and blue cake, it turned out just gorgeous. Very classy. And massive.

The other two were a little more on the fun side, one had a woodland/fairy theme, while the other was very personal for us here at the Orazietti house as well. GO PACK GO!!!!

So with the bookings for 2012 weddings still pouring in, go ahead and have fun with it! It’s your day!!

On another note, don’t forget Cake Walk: Wedding Cake Edition starts this week!! Our episode doesn’t air until November 9th, but the show is starting! Be sure to catch it on the Slice Network. Share your support for 39 amazing CANADIAN cake artists!!

Enjoy the cooler weather everyone, and get out and enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte…they come out tomorrow! :D

Very Exciting News…

Alright folks, as promised in the last few posts, here at JCC we’ve had a pretty great year. Not only is our schedule jam packed every week, we are creating more and more daring and exciting cakes. Well it’s about time to share the great news, don’t you agree? First off, we were approached by the slice network earlier in the year. Imagine just sitting at home one Tuesday morning, and getting THAT phone call. At first, I didn’t believe it, they wanted me? No audition or anything? This can’t be real. Well, I was proven wrong pretty quickly. I remember calling my husband/baker/manger Anthony just to basically see if I was crazy. He was speechless. And for those of you who don’t know him, that is rare. We immediately got back to slice and told them we were interested. Why not? That seems to be how things work around here, jump in, figure out the logistics later. That’s pretty much all the information I can give you at this point, BUT I can tell you that we have an air date! Cake Walk: Wedding Cake Edition will be starting September 7th, at 9pm, with our episode airing on November 9th, at 9pm. It truly was an amazing experience, we made friends that are just as excited about cake as we are, and we had FUN! I can’t wait to tell you all more about it! We couldn’t be more excited. Ok so that’s not the complete truth, because we are! Not only did we compete on a national television show, we did it 3 months pregnant! Our little cupcake is expected to arrive in early December. I do plan on taking some time off, but no worries, you’ll all be able to get your fix before we’re on hiatus for a few months!

That’s it for now! Keep those orders coming, they’re getting better and better!!!
