The Weekend of Dots
Once and a while, an idea for a cake comes around from a client that I’m more than excited to do. This weekend was it, I was SO excited to sit down and get started. I won’t lie, I thought about it all week. That’s how excited I was.
When Mel and Tim came to me and gave me a rough idea for their wedding cake, my brain immediately went into overdrive. Not only was this something different, but it was something I had wanted to do for a while because there was so much potential with it. Not only did they give me creative control and trust me to come up with something great, they didn’t buy a topper until discussing it with me first. Now I know what you are thinking…”but I have to have a cake topper”. In reality, cakes do look better with something placed on top, however it’s much better to sit down and go over what you want before it is purchased. Simply because what happens if your cake and topper don’t match? Mel and Tim wanted something on the top, but couldn’t find it anywhere. I quickly suggested that I make something to fill that void. I think what we came up with was great, and it suited it perfectly.
Congrats Mel and Tim, I hope youre day was everything you wanted. high five!!
Happy Anniversary Curt and Jes!
Well, one year ago today, two of our closest friends got married! Little did I know that my first wedding cake would have been such a huge hit!
Thanks Donna for that picture!!!!
Since my husband Anthony and I were Curt’s guinea pigs to start his business, it only seemed right that Curt and Jes were mine. To this day it remains the same. They are often my guinea pigs for new flavours and any time there is extra cake they tend to get it! Happy Anniversary guys, I can’t believe it’s been a year already, and quite a year at that!
On that note, I feel the need to post these pictures. I am in love with them! Be sure to check out the gallery, lots of new cakes!
Have a great week everyone!

Thanks and have a great weekend

Unique Baby Shower
Normally baby shower cakes are pretty standard. Pink for a girl, or Blue for a boy. I was thrilled when I got an email from a faithful client asking me to do a more unique one. The baby’s nursery decorated with an outdoor theme as well as the bedding. They had an idea of what they wanted for a cake, but of course I had to put my own spin on it, as I normally do. Here is the cake that I came up with.
I think my favourite part is the leaf for the baby blanket.
I love the little blue birds too.
Complete with the baby’s name.
And of course the matching cupcakes.
I love projects like this, mainly because I love when things match!
Congrats Melissa & Josh, I hope you’re little man is happy and healthy.
Congratulations Jeremy & Sandra MacKinnon
When friends get married it is such an amazing time for everyone. This past weekend was just that. Jeremy and my husband Anthony have been best friends since high school and we were lucky enough to meet Sandra when they started dating 5 years ago. Sandra had her 2 sisters standing up with her, and I had the honour of being the only one that wasn’t a blood relative standing. What a day. I felt it needed a post. Not to mention to show you all the biggest cake I have ever made. Here are few pictures from the day. You can see we all had a great time.

The Wedding Party
Pretty Ladies
And of course the massive cake.
Now if any of you know my good friend Curt O’Neil (as im sure most of you do), the next photo will not be a surprise. Just goes to show you that two successful business owners can have some fun! We’re goofs.
To Jer and Sandra, thank you for having me be part of your special day. I can never repay you for the friendship that you both have given me, I couldn’t be happier for the both of you.
Have a great weekend everyone. I’ll be off from June 13th-June 21st, any emails and phone calls will be answered when I return.
Where did May go?
This month may have been the fastest month to fly by that I have ever felt. I’m not sure if it’s because I jumped right back into work when I returned from vacation or not, but wow, I really have no idea where it went. To top all of that off, it’s now wedding season, which means the summer is going to fly by before our eyes. I know, no one likes to think of it, but lets face it, it happens. Here is the first cake of my wedding season.
Have a great week everyone!
Mother’s Day is May 9th
It’s obvious that none of us would be here without our mothers. Their work often goes unnoticed or expected, they never complain or judge and yet still they have to put up with the most.
In light of that I’m going to take a second to talk about my mom. I really don’t even know what to put. She is nothing short of amazing. It doesn’t matter what I do, or attempt to do, she is always proud and more than happy to support me. How did I get so lucky to have someone watch out for me like this. I’m very blessed. Ever since I first started this crazy idea to not go back to work and start a business in the Sault, she has done nothing but have my back. Here’s a picture of mom and I when I first started.
To look at this picture now, it seems SO long ago, and she was as proud as ever.
Not only am I blessed with one mom. I’m lucky enough to have 3! Everything I said about my mom can be said the exact same for my stepmother Mare and my Mother-In-Law Arlene. Mare is my wrapping goddess…all my wrapping is thanks to her, it’s her thing and she loves it. She is also one of my best forms of advertising, the woman is a machine!!
Arlene is constantly making sure I have enough baking ingredients to feed a small army. Thank god, because when a fast cake order comes out of no where, she is there to step in and help out.
I’m a lucky girl. I know it. Not only that but I am so grateful for people in my life to support this ever growing business of mine. I know that it’s not something I can do alone and wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for all three of them.
On that note I am having a Mother’s Day special on cookies. A dozen vanilla sugar cookies decorated for your mom, or that special mother figure in your life. The cookies will come in a basket wrapped up and ready to give to them. Shapes include, circles, hearts, flowers, tulips etc. All baskets are $35. Get your orders in soon so you don’t miss out on something special for your mom!
To all my friends that are new mothers or mothers already…Happy Mother’s Day.
Vacation
Well all, it’s that time of year for me. Vacation time! We will be closed from Sunday April 18th to Thursday April 29th, 2010.
All emails and phone calls will be processed after April 29th. Have a great few weeks.

Variations
I’ve been getting a few requests lately for repeat cakes. Normally I don’t really like to do this, however when it is a variation of the original design, it’s just another way to see it. Here are a few examples of what I’m talking about.
The very popular original seashell cake.
…and the variation.
I got so many requests for the next cake, here is the original design:
another variation….
So if you see a cake that you like, but it doesn’t have to be as big as the one already created, we can still make it to fit what you want!
That’s my little tidbit of info for the week folks, enjoy your weekend!!!
